YPs are well aware of the high cost of living. It’s one of the major reasons why many local Millennials and Gen Zers are deciding to leave Hawaii.
We at the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii’s Young Professionals Program are taking action to stem that trend. In May 2023, we convened 100+ young professionals at the YP Cost of Living Summit to brainstorm solutions to our affordability issues in Hawaii. Then, in October 2023, at our Deep Dive event, 25+ YPs collaborated with housing policy experts to flesh out the ideas generated at the Summit and form concrete policy ideas.
At this Legislation in Action event, Josh Wisch, Executive Director of Holomua Collaborative, will present on how your ideas were transformed into real bills and policy proposals. Join us for a robust discussion on how pending cost-of-living legislation can make living in Hawaii more affordable for you and others.
Eliza Talbot, Vice President of Business Advocacy & Community Relations for the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii, will also introduce how these cost-of-living issues are an integral component in the Chamber’s 2030 Blueprint.
