DevOps Engineer

Location: Kailua-Kona, HI

Summary: Forever Oceans is looking for an adventurous and technically strong DevOps engineer to help build and manage cutting edge cloud-
based infrastructure solutions for the marine aquaculture industry. You’ll be joining a highly-motivated, multi-disciplinary team focused on

revolutionizing the way fish is produced. Successful candidates will have prior experience leveraging AWS to build and deploy multi-faceted web
based applications.
The position is a full-time position working out of Forever Oceans’ Research and Development Center (RDC), which is located in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.


  • Design, build, develop, and maintain state of the art cloud-based application infrastructure.
  • Implement, automate, administer, and maintain CI/CD environments, monitoring systems, and other DevOps systems to manage cloud-based infrastructure in both development and production.
  • Manage automated provisioning and deployment through Ansible.
  • Coordinate with Software Lead to prioritize DevOps deliverables and implement best practices.
  • Assist in developing automation scripts and system configuration.
  • Be part of a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with teammates on a daily basis.
Desired Experience:
  • BS/BEng in Computer Science, Computer/Software Engineering or related field OR equivalent experience.
  • Hands on experience using various AWS tools, specifically CloudFormation, CloudWatch, and ECS.
  • Prior experience optimizing security and network configuration (VPC, load balancing, routes, etc.) of AWS hosted assets.
  • Firm grasp of Docker with the skills to create, configure, deploy, and manage docker-based services.
  • Strong understanding of load balancing and proxies, specifically via nginx.
  • Prior experience developing Ansible playbooks.
  • Experience scripting in the following languages: Bash, JavaScript (via Node.js), Python.
  • Proficient in the git CLI with an understanding of how pull requests work within a collaborative team.
  • Familiar with Linux, preferably Ubuntu or Debian.

  • Any trade or physical media skills (e.g. welding, carpentry, electrical) are a plus but not required.
