Diane Peters-Nguyen
Regional Chief Executive Officer, Pacific Islands Region
American Red Cross
Diane Peters-Nguyen serves as the Regional Chief Executive Officer, Pacific Islands Region, American Red Cross. This region includes Hawaii, Guam, Northern Marianas Islands (Saipan) and American Samoa.
Prior to her appointment with the Red Cross, she served as Chaminade University’s Vice President of Advancement for almost 13 years, overseeing development, communications, alumni engagement and the Office of Native Hawaiian Partnerships. She played a key role in the development and completion of the most successful campaign in the university’s history, “Bridges to the Future,” which raised $118 million.
Diane serves on a number of advisory boards including the Salary Commission of the City and County of Honolulu, Diamond Head Theatre, and the Friends of the East-West Center. She is the current president of Hui Hanai and previously served on the Kamehameha Scholars Advisory Board, the Native Hawaiian Hospitality Association board and the Kamehameha Schools Alumni Association Board.
Ann Teranishi
Executive Vice President
American Savings Bank
Ann Teranishi is Executive Vice President, Operations of American Savings Bank (ASB). She leads more than 150 teammates at ASB, delivering improvements to positively impact the bank’s customer experience.
Ann started with ASB in 2007 and has since served in several senior management roles, including in Customer Experience, Retail and Consumer Credit Management and Regulatory Compliance. Prior to banking, she was a commercial litigator at Kobayashi, Sugita & Goda.
Ann has been named to Pacific Business News’ Women Who Mean Business, Hawaii Business Magazine’s 20 for the Next 20 and the Girl Scouts Women of Distinction. She is currently a member of Omidyar Fellows Cohort VII. Her commitment to making a positive impact extends into the community, as evidenced by her involvement with the boards of Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii, Hawaii Literacy the Hawaii Cellular Therapy and Transplant Center, and the U.S. Japan Council. She has previously served as Hawaii Regional Chair of the U.S. Japan Council and on the Catholic Charities Hawaii Board of Directors.
Ann holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Economics from Claremont McKenna College, and her Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. She is a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington’s Graduate School of Business and the Stanford Graduate School of Business Emerging COO program.
Glenn Wakai
Hawaii State Senator
Glenn Wakai entered the world of public service in 2002 when he was elected to the State House of Representatives. He moved to the Senate in 2010 and is currently the Chairman of the Energy, Economic Development, and Tourism Committee.
Prior to politics, Glenn spent 11 years in television news. His reporting career began in Guam and he later moved to Saipan to build a TV station from scratch. He returned to Hawaii in 1995 to become a reporter for KHON FOX2 and KHNL News 8.
Glenn graduated from the University of Southern California with degrees in Journalism and Sociology, and also has a minor in Business Administration.
Outside of the Capitol, Glenn runs his own PR firm, High Impact Communications and is also President of Reach out Pacific (REPAC), a non-profit which takes surplus medical and educational supplies to Micronesia.
Glenn is the Honorary Consul for the Republic of Palau. He also serves on the boards of Aloha Medical Mission and the Japanese Cultural Center.
