Manufacturing Day is a national celebration of the 12 million talented men and women who work in manufacturing nationwide. It takes place on October 2nd this year and is supported by a proclamation from Governor David Ige. In the State of Hawaii, manufacturing is a $1.87 billion dollar industry and employs over 14,000 Hawaii residents.
As in previous years, National Manufacturing Day serves to highlight the importance of manufacturing to our community and local economy, and to inspire the next generation of skilled workers to join the industry. U.S. manufacturers across the nation will participate in Manufacturing Day by hosting virtual tours, career workshops and other events.
This year, under the theme, Resiliency in the Time of the Coronavirus, we’re taking the tour virtual and hosting two live virtual tours and providing a link to a library of pre-recorded tours. The live virtual tours are meant to be interactive, giving attendees the opportunity to ask questions as the tour is conducted. Virtual tour schedule follows:
10:00 AM – Welcome
10:10 AM – 10:50 AM – Live Virtual Tour – Maui Brewing Company (Maui), hosted by Founder Garrett Marrero
10:55 AM – 11:30 AM – Live Virtual Tour – Kamanu Composites (Oahu), hosted by Co-Founder and Partner Keizo Gates
