During the global COVID-19 pandemic, businesses have been focused on how to keep their doors open, diversify their revenue, maintain staff morale in remote work environments, and juggling their own remote working arrangements with spouse and children at home. While these juggling priorities have been challenging, what happens when an employee announces that they have tested positive for COVID-19?
Learn from the experts on how to act quickly to minimize operations and staff risk including internal messaging, press releases, next steps to properly clean the office and more. These and other topics will be discussed.

Dr. Phyllis Horner & Dr. Manfred Zapka
Great Places and Spaces
Dr. Phyllis Horner and Dr. Manfred Zapka formed Great Places and Spaces LLC two years ago because they saw a need for work environments to meet the needs of the people who ?live? in the space. Their passion for healthy buildings and psychological safety and well-being led them to study the emerging research on topics such as open office floor plans, the impact of lighting and comfortable temperatures, fresh air, ventilation, and views to the outside.
Prior to Great Places and Spaces, Manfred has owned Sustainable Design and Consulting, taught and done research in the field of occupant comfort in buildings internationally as well as at the University of Hawaii School of Architecture, and he worked for software and engineering companies.
Prior to Great Places and Spaces, Phyllis has owned/operated three successful businesses and worked at Ford Motor Company, The Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii and Servco Pacific Inc.
Both Phyllis and Manfred have created systems, processes, and assessments to improve the quality of the modern workplace, including working from home.

Jeremy Schmalfeldt
General Manager
BELFOR Hawaii
Over 20 years of experience in the construction industry. I've always had an intrigue with building assemblies, design and repairs. My education started boots on the ground in the field with framing and concrete work. I grew in my understanding of production and budget constraints and quickly transitioned into a project engineer for a design build contractor. Shortly after I moved to project management running large scale ground up projects in San Diego. The restoration industry has blended my background with the gratification of helping others in times of need. In 2014, my family and I transitioned to Hawaii and found our final destination.
