Chamber Week presented by Alaska Airlines is a three-week series of events and programming that coincides with the opening of the Hawaii State Legislature to connect members and the business community with legislators and engage them in the legislative process.
Hear from experts on 2024 legislation that will impact the business community including U.S. Representative Ed Case, Jennings Imel, Executive Director, Western Region, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and Eliza Talbot, Vice President, Business Advocacy and Community Relations, Chamber of Commerce Hawaii.
This informative session will kick-off with a Legislative 101 presentation by Eliza Talbot. Learn how the local legislative process works, important deadlines, how to submit testimony and information on the Chamber's legislative packet for 2024.
Followed by Jennings Imel for a Federal Outlook update on topics including trade, infrastructure, immigration and other key issues.
Concluding with a virtual fireside chat Q&A session with Jennings Imel and Congressman Ed Case.

U.S. Representative Ed Case
U.S. Representative Ed Case proudly represents Hawaii's First Congressional District (Oahu from Makapuu through Central Honolulu and Leeward to Mililani, Waipahu, Ewa and Kapolei).
Congressman Case previously represented Hawaii's Second Congressional District (Windward Oahu, North Shore, Central Oahu, Waianae, Neighbor Islands, Northwestern Hawaiian Islands) from 2002 to 2007. He also served as Hawaii State Representative from 1994 to 2002 in various positions including Majority Leader.
Ed Case was born and raised in Hilo, with family roots in Hawaii dating back to 1896. He attended Waiakea-Kai and Keaukaha Elementary Schools in Hilo and graduated from Hawaii Preparatory Academy in Kamuela, Williams College in Massachusetts and the University of California/Hastings College of Law in San Francisco.
Before law school Case worked on Capitol Hill for three years as Legislative Assistant to U.S. Congressman/Senator Spark Matsunaga (Hawaii). Following law school he served as clerk to Hawaii Supreme Court Chief Justice William Richardson, and then joined the Honolulu-based law firm of Carlsmith Ball, Hawaii's oldest, where for two decades he practiced litigation, property, transactional, business and government law and rose from associate to partner and managing partner.
Following his initial service in Congress, Case practiced law for seven years with the Honolulu firm of Bays Lung Rose & Holma, where he also served as managing attorney. He then worked for five years as Senior Vice President/Chief Legal Officer of Outrigger Enterprises Group, one of Hawaii's oldest hotel and resort companies with properties throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific-Asia-Indian Ocean region.
Since returning to Congress in 2019, Case has served on the House Committee on Appropriations, where he is currently a member of the Subcommittee on Defense and the Subcommittee on Homeland Security. He has also served on the House Committee on Natural Resources, where he is currently a member of three subcommittees: Water, Wildlife and Fisheries; Indian and Insular Affairs; and Oversight and Investigation. He also serves as co-founder and Co-Chair of the House Pacific Islands Caucus and as Vice Chair of the House Problem Solvers Caucus.
Jennings Imel

Before joining the U.S. Chamber staff in 2013, Jennings worked in Washington, DC at the U.S. Association of Former Members of Congress and at the public affairs firm of Mercury, Clark & Weinstock. Prior to moving to DC, Jennings worked in the California State Assembly; he also managed and worked on several successful congressional and state legislative campaigns, mostly in the Southern California region.
Jennings received a master's degree in international affairs from The George Washington University and bachelor's degrees in political science and German from the University of California, Riverside.
