John C Jay is President of Global Creative for Fast Retailing, parent company of international apparel brands including Uniqlo, Theory and Helmut Lang. He lives and works in Portland Oregon, Tokyo and New York City.
Jay was named by Graphic Design USA in the top ten of “50 Most Influential Art Directors in the Past 50 Years”. Fast Company Magazine named him in their “100 Most Creative in Business.” The Art Directors Club inducted Jay into their prestigious “Hall of Fame.” American Photography Magazine chose him in their “80 Most Influential in Photography.” His book concept and design for Soul of the Game won the Gold Medal at the Leipzig Book Fair and named “14 Most Beautiful Books in the World” by the Copenhagen Museum. His restaurant, Ping was named by GQ Magazine in their “10 Best New Restaurants in America” in 2009. Jay’s creative work has appeared in museums and galleries around the world.
Jay founded the Jay Scholarship Fund at The Ohio State University to encourage students of Asian descent to study and pursue a career in arts.
