Thanks!\n\n\n\nJoin us for the Power Panel & Pau Hana charged by Hawai'i Energy on Thursday\, June 22\, 2023 from 4:30 - 6:30 PM.\n\n\n\nAttendees will hear from state leaders about renewable energy initiatives and enjoy networking and farm-to-cup beverages from Ko'olau Distillery and appetizers.\n\n\n\nThe Chamber of Commerce Hawaii and Hawai'i Energy are bringing together Mayor Rick Blangiardi\, City & County of Honolulu\, Mayor Richard Bissen\, Maui County\, Mayor Derek Kawakami\, Kauai County\, and Mayor Mitch Roth\, Hawaii County\, as well as State of Hawaii Chief Energy Officer\, Mark Glick\, to discuss Hawaii's efforts to reach our renewable energy goals and fight climate change.\n\n\n\nJoin us for this panel discussion\, moderated by Hawai'i Energy Executive Director Caroline Carl\, to hear directly from our state's top leaders on their innovation energy policy plans. This is an opportunity to hear from all 4 county mayors and participate in an discussion on the intersection of energy\, efficiency and climate change and the business community's role in these efforts.\n\n\n\nEnjoy networking and light refreshments after the panel discussion. Before rejoining HSEO in 2023\, Glick was tenure track faculty of the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute\, overseeing energy policy and innovation and coordinating State and University of Hawaii assets towards fulfillment of Hawaii's ambitious energy transformation and supporting similar objectives in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. \n\n\n\nGlick previously served five years as Administrator of the Hawaii State Energy Office where he led Hawaii's internationally regarded clean energy transformation efforts. He also served as Vice Chair of the National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO).\n\n\n\nGlick serves on the Board of Directors of the Washington Place Foundation and previously served three terms as Executive Committee Chair of the Hawaii Chapter of the Sierra Club and as Vice Chair of the Hawaii Green Infrastructure Authority. Glick has a Master of Science\, Public Management & Policy from Carnegie-Mellon University and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Lamar University.\n\n\n\n\n\nMayor Derek Kawakami\n\nCounty of Kauai\n\n\n\nMayor Derek S.K. Kawakami was elected as mayor of the County of Kauai and Niihau on November 6\, 2018. Mayor Kawakami's government service began as a council member with Kaua'i County Council from 2008 to 2011\, and also served on the Kaua'i County Council from 2016 to 2018. During his tenure as a Kaua'i County Council member\, Mayor Kawakami chaired the Intergovernmental Relations Committee and vice chaired the Committee of the Whole.\n\n\n\nMayor Kawakami was a gubernatorial appointee to the Hawai'i State Legislature\, representing District 14 from 2011 to 2015. As a State Representative\, Mayor Kawakami served as the Assistant Majority Leader\; chaired the Committee on Economic Development and Business\; vice chaired the Committee on Energy and Environmental Protection\; and vice chaired the Committee on Commerce and Consumer Protection. \n\n\n\n\n\nMayor Mitch Roth\n\nCounty of Hawaii\n\n\n\nMayor Mitch Roth Mitchell D. Roth was elected Mayor of the County of Hawaii in November 2020 with a vision of fostering a sustainable island community where residents could thrive and succeed for generations. Since taking office\, Mayor Roth has championed sustainable efforts island wide\, including pushing for energy resilience and independence\, transforming the County fleet to 100% renewable energy vehicles\, bringing online hydrogen buses for public transportation\, and investing heavily in infrastructure repair and maintenance. Under Mayor Roth's leadership\, the County of Hawai i has added over 5\,000 affordable housing units to the development pipeline and continues to encourage public-private partnerships to meet the needs of Hawai i Island's residents. Before becoming Mayor\, Mitch dedicated 27 years of his career to the safety and health of Hawaii Island residents\, serving as the Prosecuting Attorney of Hawaii County   a role he held since 2012. Under his leadership\, the Hawaii County Office of the Prosecuting Attorney prosecuted several cold cases\, implemented the first restorative justice program in a prosecutor's office nationally\, created a sexual assault unit with attorneys experienced in such cases\, and set up community outreach and training. Mayor Roth has a bachelor's degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and a Juris Doctorate from Whittier Law School.
