DESCRIPTION:Chamber Week - a week-long series of events and programming that coincides with the opening of the Hawaii State Legislature to connect members and the business community with legislators and engage them in the legislative process. \n\n\n\nHear from experts on 2023 legislation that will impact the business community.\n\n\n\nJoin this informative session to learn about how the legislative process works locally and nationally\, the benefits of joining a Chamber policy committee\, and getting involved in support of your business. \n\n \n\nThe Chamber's Business Advocacy team will provide an outlook at the local level for the upcoming legislative session and Jennings Imel\, Executive Director\, Western Region\, U.S. Chamber of Commerce\, will provide an update at the federal level and what we can expect in 2023 covering trade\, infrastructure\, immigration and other key issues. \n\n\n\nComplimentary for Chamber members. Registration includes coffee and pastries.\n\n\n\n\n\nJennings Imel\n\nExecutive Director\n\nU.S. Chamber of Commerce\n\n\n\nBefore joining the U.S. Chamber staff in 2013\, Jennings worked in Washington\, DC at the U.S. Association of Former Members of Congress and at the public affairs firm of Mercury\, Clark & Weinstock. Prior to moving to DC\, Jennings worked in the California State Assembly\; he also managed and worked on several successful congressional and state legislative campaigns\, mostly in the Southern California region.\n\n\n\nJennings received a master's degree in international affairs from The George Washington University and bachelor's degrees in political science and German from the University of California\, Riverside\n\n\n\n\n\nTrevor Abarzua\n\nAssociate Vice President\, Business Advocacy & Development\n\nChamber of Commerce Hawaii\n\nAs Associate Vice President of Business Advocacy & Development\, Trevor is responsible for advocating for business-friendly public policy on behalf of the Chamber. Trevor works with all levels of government on policy implementation and development\, including the Governor and Lieutenant Governor's office\, Hawaii State Legislature\, City Councils and our federal Congressional Delegation. In addition to leading business advocacy\, Trevor manages and executes non-legislative initiatives such as business development.\n\nTrevor has a decade of experience as a government relations professional with expertise in policy\, advocacy and legislative affairs. His professional experience includes roles as a policy advisor and director of operations in a Governor's office\, as well as Vice President of Business Development for a state economic development organization.\n\nTrevor graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in political science.\n\n\n\nMarketing opportunities are available to promote your company during Chamber Week.
